Translucent porcelain
"Art is, indeed, the sacrament of awareness, a trumpet call to every soul to come to life again and see, to rise to the heights of itself again and become, to strive for more than the lowest level of existence and to transcend the banal."
- Joan Chittister
Thirst for Beauty, Thirst for Soul, 1998
The translucency of porcelain offers a symbolic representation of the divine spark contained in each one of us. This light seeks to externalize itself, to tear its material envelope and to reintegrate the original unity from which it emerged.
The engraved, carved and cut patterns in the clay are expressions of the organic fluidity and the grace of this luminous energy and sometimes bring to mind stained glass, curves inspired by Art Nouveau or esoteric symbols. They are an echo of the transformative capacity of the human being.
